ARTISAN EMPOWERMENT – RESONANCE OF AUTHENTICITY & DEDICATION
PROLOGUE
From the ancient age, majority of the Indian socio economy is dependent upon the agricultural activity. Considering this major share, in the segment of non-farming initiatives homebased small scale or traditional family based activities of creative initiatives sets the Indian artisans with a unique and prominent place in the cultural heritage.
These artisan community plays a vital role to strengthen the overall society and national integrity not only by contributing in terms of cultural values but it also boost the national economy to a greater extent. However, like all other industry this craft industry also has few challenges of its own. Lack of understanding of the market dynamics, inability to innovate among the younger generation, effective global market reach, consideration of alternate source of income are few prime bottlenecks.
Crafting a livelihood calls for reinvestment in Indian rural artisans to conserve the traditional richness and importance.
This was one of the prima facie motto behind launching our own initiative Craftinence India to be a market enabler to promote the creative wonders among the global marketplace while safeguarding the Indian cultural heritage.
Art & craft specially in the Indian diaspora are known for its simplicity and accuracy. All though the acceptance of such wonders among the global audience has got royal patronage but as the industrialisation progressed hence gradually the relevance is gradually decreasing. As there was a sheer dip in the headcount of the skilled artisans by almost 30% over a period of last 30 years, time has come when we need to cherish our old legacy of market dominance in terms of authentic creative streaks.
As we are dissolving the geographic barriers in terms of communication and logistics it’s the perfect time to boost the economy and nurture the tradition of cultural exchange.
Sustainability is the key and we need to ensure to stand in solidarity to these artisans and engage for upliftment to provide better livelihood. Let’s support in our own form and capacity which would impact their life to a greater extent.
